I wanted to try something new so I let my eight-year-old daughter design her nails and this is what she came up with. Oh I love these. These two are the Halloween. Okay. These two are the Valentine's. So you're going for like a holiday inspo-y set of nails and then what's all of this in the middle? The stuff in the middle I would like to beled. So like pretend these are sparkled and stuff. Okay, so like little stars with them? Okay. Do you kind of want like aura nails? Kind of like how mine are like aura where there's a different color in the center? Okay, I get it. I get it. I would like the Halloween's to be on my thumbs. Okay, so purple and orange on your thumbs. Do we like this one for the hot pink? yeah do we like this one for the light pink this Yeah. Do we like this one for the light pink? Yes. This one is the only yellow that I have. Is this yellow going to be good? Yes. You like that yellow? Yes. Okay. Your purple looks a little bit dark. Mine's a little bit lighter. I can't jump. And I realized this when I started my weight loss journey and I had a really difficult time doing jumping jacks. When you get to a weight that your mobility is restricted, it is really hard to reconcile all of the things you no longer are able to do that you think you should be able to do. So I started on a journey to reclaim all of the things that I've lost through gaining so much weight. I'm down 131 pounds and now I'm able to tackle the challenge of starting to jump again. I've been practicing my jumping jacks. I've been practicing on jumping on steps and currently I am trying to jump on the curb. I think I have a little bit of fear and hesitation. I'm scared of falling on the concrete. But once I can do this, I know nothing's going to stop me from doing all the things that I want to do in my life and reclaiming all the things and skills that I've lost. So if you are also on a journey to reclaiming things, I'm right there with you.

My daughter always has the coolest ideas when it comes to her nails, so I thought it would be really fun to let her design her own set. I made my own template on Canva and let her go to town. To no one's surprise, she came up with this absolutely adorable rainbow aura set, and it was finally time to say goodbye to these baby blue chrome nails. I started by removing all of her old polish with my safety bit, and in only four weeks, her nails got quite a bit of length on them, so we definitely had to cut them down. We went with a classic square shape with rounded corners and then I finished up the rest of my prep work I never use a nail dehydrator so my prep is very very important to get these sets to last. I would be lost without my sanding band and my Skyver. These are my go-to prep bits. Obviously we had to clean up those pesky cuticles with my nippers. I use the American Creator gel line for my base. I use the ones in the bottles not the ones in the pots and that's just a personal preference for my daughter's nails i always do a small layer of their construction gel you can see me applying this in real time and like i said it is a very thin layer each nail in her design had a different background so as soon as we laid that all down i got out my fun little palette so that i could start her aura effect i finally got my hands on some blooming gel so i did a thin layer of that on each nail and then put a dot of color in the center and over time that dot will expand and really soften its edges once you like how that looks a dot of color in the center and over time that dot will expand and really soften its edges once you like how that looks you just throw it in the light to cure now as a reminder this is what her nails looked like before and here are the results

I couldn't jump at 461 pounds. In fact, I couldn't do a lot of things at 461 pounds. So I went on a journey to lose weight and regain the mobility that I'd lost. Over the past year, I've lost 135 pounds. And for the past month, I have been dedicating my weekends to practicing learning how to jump. And I think that I can officially say with tears in my eyes, I can jump. I am able to safely jump over something. It's only a couple inches high, but I can do it. I'm still working at the higher one at five inches, but it's getting better. And to all of the people who cheered me along on my journey, thank you. Your advice has been critical in helping me to regain this very key thing on my journey. There's so much more for me to take back control of in my life.
