Not many people know this, but the theme song to The Big Bang Theory was written in two minutes in the shower, 15 minutes before the songwriter had to turn it in because he didn't want to do it, and ended up becoming the most successful thing he's ever done. The Big Bang Theory ran for 12 seasons, had a peak viewership of 20 million people, and was one of the most successful sitcoms of all time. One of the most beloved aspects of the show is its theme song, which was written by the Bare Naked Ladies, or specifically one of its co-founders, Ed Robertson. But what many people don't know is that this very catchy, very popular, very beloved song was written in two minutes by Ed Robertson while he was in the shower, right before he had to turn it in to the show's creator. Story goes that Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre reached out to the Bare Naked Ladies through their management, asking that they make a theme song for his new sitcom about a bunch of scientists living in an apartment together and the band kind of just thought the whole thing was stupid and they didn't want to do it. They had no interest in making a theme song for a sitcom. They thought the premise of the show sounded kind of stupid and they had no idea who Chuck Lorre was or how successful his previous hit sitcoms like Two and a Half Men were. However, their management team convinced them that they should take the deal. They agreed to do it and then promptly just forgot about it and didn't work on it for months. Cut to the morning that the song is due. Ed Robertson has not worked on it at all and he's telling his managers that he just wants to back out of the deal and not do it but they tell him you need to make this song do you know who this guy is this is gonna make your career so 15 minutes before they have to turn the song in ed robertson jumps into the shower and spends two minutes coming up with a concept and writing the lyrics in his head for what would end up becoming the Big Bang Theory theme song. Which, you know if you've heard the song, is basically one long run-on sentence that's describing the historical scientific progress of man up until today. Robertson jumped out of the shower, picked out some chords on a guitar, recorded himself singing the song into a voice memo or something like that, sent it off to Chuck Lorre, they loved it, it became the theme song, and the rest is history. And Robertson himself has gone on record as saying that that song is the most successful thing that they've ever done as a band, including their initial smash hit One Week from the late 90s. And while we don't know exactly how much money the band has made from the song. Back in 2015, there was a lawsuit brought on the Barenaked Ladies from one of their former bandmates, Stephen Page, who claimed that he was owed 20% of their royalties. And in that lawsuit, he said that the band has made millions upon millions of dollars from just that song. So they made multi-millions of dollars from essentially just two minutes of work that a dude did while he was in the shower, which just goes to show you that there is literally no such thing as a bad idea. Not many people know this, but the creator of ALF was so obsessed with people thinking that he was a real alien and not a puppet that it completely destroyed the popularity of the character and sabotaged his entire career. Everybody of a certain age remembers ALF, created in 1984 by Paul Fusco, and became massively popular in the late 1980s, like Taylor Swift Beatles popular. He had three TV shows, a sitcom, and two cartoons. He had a video game. He starred in dozens of comics. But then suddenly, almost as quickly as he appeared, he just completely vanished. The two animated shows were canceled in 1989, and then in 1990, the sitcom ALF was abruptly canceled after only four seasons, despite great ratings. And everybody just kind of stopped talking about ALF. And the reason was that Paul Fusco, ALF's creator, was obsessed with people thinking that he was a real, actual alien that came down to Earth and became an actor, and this obsession completely sabotaged his entire career. First of all, the sitcom ALF was insanely elaborate and tedious to shoot, and everybody involved in the show despised making it. Because Fusco refused to break the illusion of ALF being a puppet, he wouldn't let the studio audience ever see the puppeteers or the bottom part of the Alf puppet, and he also would never break character. So they had to build these elaborate trenches and tunnels throughout the bottom of the set so the puppeteers could travel through them while they were shooting and stay hidden. A complicated network of trenches was very dangerous, and the cast and crew hated shooting on the set. Some of them even fell and hurt themselves during production. This method also made the production of the show take upwards of three times longer than any normal sitcom and made the show insanely expensive. Max Wright, the actor who played Willy on the show, hated it so much and became so frustrated that one day he actually got into a physical fight with ALF. Not Paul Fusco, the puppeteer, the actual ALF puppet. He attacked it so overwhelmed by the technically demanding shoot and had to be pulled away. He was actually invited to host SNL multiple times, but each time Paul Fusco demanded that they would have to build elaborate trenches under the set of SNL, and each time SNL politely declined. Cut to 2002, and ALF was invited to guest star on the 75th anniversary episode of SNL, but the production found his demands so frustrating that his role was drastically cut down to a very brief cameo. And then in 2003, Alf got a new TV show called Alf's Hit Talk Show, but it was abruptly canceled after seven episodes because it was too expensive to make because of his insane demands to make Alf seem like a real guy. And then in 2012, an ALF movie was announced by Sony, but then it was abruptly canceled because Sony refused to meet Paul Fusco's demand of

In the 2000s, authorities in Europe discovered a female serial killer who had committed dozens of crimes all over the European continent, but her true identity was way crazier than you think. The investigation was started in the early 2000s after the same DNA evidence was discovered at two very similar crime scenes in Germany. One was in 1993, and it was the murder of a 62-year-old woman, and the other one was in 2001, and it was the shooting of a 61-year-old man. At the time, the authorities thought they had some kind of serial killer on their hands who was preying on elderly people and went into long periods of hibernation. But then the crimes that they started connecting with his DNA started to get weirder and the crimes weren't just murders there was also armed robberies burglaries drug busts all with this exact same person's DNA evidence at the crime scene. The crimes weren't just happening in Germany they were happening all over Europe particularly in Austria and France. And then in 2007, a police officer in Heilbronn, Germany named Michelle Kaiswetter was out on patrol whenever an unknown figure walked up to her cruiser, pulled out a gun and shot her point blank in the head. Lo and behold, this same person's DNA evidence was found at the crime scene. And so from that point on, this person was dubbed as the Phantom of Heilbronn. Authorities at the time were absolutely stumped about this. How could this person be traveling all across Europe, committing all of these various seemingly unrelated crimes with no pattern whatsoever across decades? This person would have to be in their late 40s at this point and getting away with it for all of these years. The only thing that they knew after years of investigation and studying the DNA was that this person was a woman. And then in 2009, a random man in France was arrested. And during his booking process, they discovered the Phantom of Heilbronn's DNA on his belongings. And authorities were like, what is going on? Who is this person? How is their DNA getting on all of these different unrelated crimes throughout the entire continent? And then they dug just a little bit deeper and finally discovered the identity of the Phantom of Heilbronn. It turned out that this DNA belonged to a female worker at a cotton swab factory in Germany who was producing the cotton swabs that were being supplied to police precincts throughout Europe. And apparently this factory was cutting corners and not following all the rules and procedures around making.

Not many people know this, but the real-life ghost hunters that the Conjuring franchise was based on had a dark secret that involved underage 15-year-old child brides. The Conjuring movies in particular actually were based on the lives of Ed and Lorraine Warren and starred fictionalized versions of them, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, and became one of the most successful horror franchises of all time. But they left out one very dark detail about their lives. It was the fact that in the early 1960s, Ed Warren worked as a bus driver at a high school to make ends meet while they got their paranormal investigation business up and running. And during this time, as about a 35-year-old man, he met a 15-year-old high school student named Judith Penny, fell in love with her, and started a romantic relationship with her. Allegedly. Judith Penny claims that in 1963, at the age of 15 years old, she moved into Ed and Lorraine Warren's Connecticut home and lived in an upstairs bedroom and began her life as Ed Warren's secret mistress. So that's what she claims, but is there proof? Well, shortly after she moved in, a neighbor actually noticed what was going on and called the police on the Warrens. But for some reason, instead of Ed Warren being arrested, Judith Penny was arrested for juvenile delinquency and spent a night in jail. And so throughout the rest of the late 60s and 70s, Ed and Lorraine Warren went on to become famous for all their big cases like the Amityville haunting, the Cheyenne Johnson case, the acquisition of the Annabelle doll, the infield poltergeist, so on and so forth.
